Most likely passage for the test:
I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Then never to have loved at all.
Context: Tennyson is mourning the loss of his friend Arthur Henry Hallam. The first two stanzas says he envies not beasts who lack conscience or a bird born in a cage. He wants to have these feelings... even if it means having feelings of loss.
